Information for Employers

Employers are required to pay 1.53% of gross pay as employee pension contributions to the relevant social insurance agency for all employees who have entered into a (new) employment relationship since January 1, 2003. The social insurance agency forwards these contributions to the selected pension fund for administration and investment.

We’re always here to listen to your concerns. Contact us. We’ll provide you with information about our investment results, current developments in employer-sponsored retirement plans, or options for transferring funds to the new severance pay model.

Companies with a works council

If your company has a works council, the employer is required to select the pension fund in consultation with the works council and to document the selection in a company agreement. You can find a sample company agreement here.

Companies Without a Works Council

The employer may select the pension fund on its own and inform the employees of its decision. However, the employees have the right to object if at least one-third of them oppose the selected pension fund. In this case, an effort will be made to find a suitable pension fund by mutual agreement (if necessary, with the involvement of a voluntary employee representative body).
Employee pension contributions are remitted together with social security contributions to the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK), which then forwards them to us.

Switch to BONUS

Have you had a contract with another pension fund in the past and would you like to switch? BONUS has the right options for you. We guarantee that the cancellation process will be simple and free of charge. You can switch pension funds at the end of each calendar year, provided you give six months’ notice.

Full Transfer

  • A transfer amount to be agreed upon between employers and employees—ranging from 50% to 100% of the previous severance pay entitlements—will be transferred to BONUS as of a specific effective date. As of this effective date, the severance pay entitlements are fully subject to the new severance pay model, and the employer makes monthly contributions. The transfer amount may be paid into the pension fund in a single lump sum. If payment in installments is agreed upon, it must be completed within a maximum of 5 years, with each annual installment amounting to at least 20% of the transfer amount. Payments made in installments are subject to statutory interest at a rate of 6% per annum on the annual transfer amount. In the event of early termination of the employment relationship, payment of any outstanding installments is mandatory. A sample agreement can be found here.

Partial Transfer

  • Employers and employees agree that severance pay entitlements accrued up to a specific effective date will remain under the old severance pay model.
As of the effective date, the employer pays contributions under the new severance pay model. The resulting severance pay entitlements are held by the pension fund and therefore can no longer be lost by the employee. A sample agreement can be found here.
