Focus on Climate Risks

How we are tackling climate change

We place special emphasis on addressing climate risks. Climate risks refer to the potential negative impacts of climate change on businesses and the economy. These risks can manifest in various forms and encompass both physical and transition risks.

To address these challenges, we signed the Montréal Carbon Pledge in 2020 and developed a comprehensive climate strategy.

Our measures include:

  • Tracking CO₂ metrics: such as analyzing our carbon footprint and carbon intensity.
  • Annual disclosure: Transparent reporting of our carbon footprint.
  • Investment-related CO₂ corporate targets: Identification of companies in our portfolio with SBTi-compliant CO₂ reduction targets.
  • Sector restrictions: Limiting investments in CO₂-intensive sectors.
  • Low-carbon strategies: Integration of strategies such as Climate Transition (CTB) and Paris Aligned (PAB).
  • Impact Investments: Investments in projects with a positive impact on the environment and society.

Physical risks are the direct impacts of climate change on the environment and infrastructure. These risks can lead to significant damage to buildings, infrastructure, and supply chains. Examples include:

  • Extreme weather events: storms, floods, droughts, and heat waves.
  • Sea-level rise: Flooding and erosion along coastlines.
  • Soil degradation: Loss of soil quality and vegetation

Transition risks arise from the transition to a low-carbon economy. These risks require companies to adapt and invest in new technologies and strategies. Examples include:

  • Technological changes: New technologies can render existing products and services obsolete.
  • Regulatory changes: New laws and regulations aimed at reducing CO2 emissions can result in additional costs (e.g., a CO2 tax).
  • Changes in market prices: Fluctuations in commodity prices due to environmental regulations

As of December 31, 2025, the equity portfolio’s carbon footprint stands at 40.2 metric tons of CO2e per million euros invested, which is significantly lower than the equity benchmark’s figure (77.3 metric tons of CO2e per million euros invested).
